Trump's Security Advisors Acknowledge Biden's Victory
A top adviser to US President Donald Trump Monday appeared to admit that it is unlikely that the president will be declared the winner in this month's presidential election, although he and other top aides are still hoping for a second term.
"If the tally has established Biden-Harris as the winner, obviously everything seems to be headed in that direction at this point, the National Security Council will make a very professional transition," White House National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien told a Global Security Forum conducted online.
O'Brien's comments came while Trump remained adamant on social media that the election was rigged and that he should be declared the winner. Various media networks project former vice president Joe Biden to be the winner on November 7.
Shortly before O'Brien's statement, Trump tweeted, “The Radical Left Democrats, working with their partner, the Fake News Media, are trying to STEAL this election. We won't let them! "
O'Brien also expressed hope that the Biden presidency would continue some of Trump's achievements, especially the Abraham Accords, the normalization of relations between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
