Alert! Latest Update on US Election, Trump Wins in Indiana

The presidential election of the United States (US) officially took place on Tuesday (3/11/2020) morning local time or evening Indonesian time.

Until now, Americans are still voting to get the result between incumbent Republican Donald Trump or his Democratic rival Joe Biden.

Reporting from USA Today, at least 101.2 million people voted at the start of the election. It is predicted that the number of citizens voting will exceed 150 million people in total.

Even so in six states voting has closed. Namely in Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia.

Citing AFP, CNN International and NBC projected victory for Trump in Indiana. This region has 11 electoral voters in the Electoral College.

California has the largest number of votes, namely 55, followed by Texas with 38, Florida and New York with 29 each and Pennsylvania with 20. As is known, presidential candidates will win if they are able to win 270 votes from a total of 538 votes.

The announcement of the winners itself may be known at noon RI time. Earlier in 2016, when Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, the announcement was made at 14.30 noon Indonesia time or 2.30 in the morning US time.
