The presidential election was "finished," Biden said after Trump accepted the transition to power
US President-elect Joe Biden said "the elections are over" after Donald Trump accepted that the transfer of power to a new government could begin.
"It is time to put aside alignments and the rhetoric of mutilating one another. We need to unite," said Biden and his tweet Tuesday (24/11).
Donald Trump has previously said he recommended a federal agency "do what needs to be done" with the transition to power, although he insists it will continue to oppose the outcome of the US presidential election.
The General Services Administration (GSA) said it had recognized Biden as the "clear winner".
This came to the fore after Biden's victory in the State of Michigan was formalized.
Trump released the tweet after the GSA, which is officially tasked with initiating the transition to the presidency, informed Biden's team that the process would begin.
Emily Murphy as a GSA official - chosen by Trump - said she opened access to funds of US $ 6.3 million (Rp.89.7 billion) to the elected president.
Pledging to continue the "fight," Trump said: "In the best interest of our country, I recommend Emily and her team to do what needs to be done with the initial protocol, and I have instructed my team to do the same."
