WASHINGTON - Nearly 80% of citizens of the United States (US), including more than half of Republican supporters, recognized Joe Biden as the winner of the November 3 election.
The data is based on a survey conducted by Reuters / Ipsos after most media organizations cited Biden's votes in various key fighting states.
Biden needs 270 Electoral College votes to win the presidential election. He already has 279 votes versus 214 for Trump with results in the three states not finalized, according to Edison Research data.
In the popular vote, Biden got 76.3 million votes, or 50.7% of the total, and Trump garnered 71.6 million votes or 47.6%.
The Reuters / Ipsos national survey, took place from Saturday afternoon to Tuesday. “79% of US adults believe Biden won the White House. Another 13% said the election had not yet been decided, 3% said Trump won and 5% said they didn't know, "said the survey results.
The survey results are somewhat disaggregated by political parties. "About six out of 10 Republicans and nearly every Democrat say Biden won," the survey said.
